Policies and Information

Treatment-

The initial session that you will have with this clinician will establish a history of symptoms that you are experiencing, family history, current dynamics that influence your life at this time, the development of the counseling relationship, and the development of a treatment plan with recommendations from this counselor.
All counseling relationships are voluntary and you may choose to end counseling services at any time and for any reason.
This counselor may determine that this counselor may not be able to provide effective treatment to you and may provide a referral.

Confidentiality-

This counselor upholds confidentiality for clients that engage in therapy with Counseling with AJ, LLC. The law and ethics dictate that counselors maintain clients' Private Health Information (PHI) unless there is a release for that information; only information signed to be released will be released to whoever has been identified on the Release of Information.
Limits to confidentiality- At times, counselors may need to breach your confidentiality for the identified issues-
1. If a client identifies a clear threat of harm to an identified individual.
2. If a client identifies that they are actively suicidal and in imminent risk of harming themselves or another person.
3. If there is suspected or identified abuse towards a child or an older adult.
4. If this counselor is subpoenaed or court-ordered to breach confidentiality.

Attendance-

The client is responsible for attending counseling services, being mindful of an appointment with this therapist, and being on time.  It is the client's responsibility to reschedule the appointment and pay the $50 cancellation fee.
Due to appointment times being reserved for each client, this counselor has a clear No-Show & Late Cancellation Policy.  Clients must inform Counseling with AJ, LLC of cancellations 24 hours before their appointment.  Counseling with AJ, LLC will apply a $50 fee to your account for late cancellations (within 24 hours of appointment), no-showing to an appointment, or being 15 minutes late to an appointment.

Working with Minors-

Counseling with AJ, LLC accepts minors for Psychotherapy Treatment starting at age 6 for in-person counseling services and at age 8 for Telehealth Services.
Parents of minor clients must be present for teletherapy until age 16.
For children with split custody, this counselor requires consent from both parents in writing to provide psychotherapy treatment.
Parents are privy to all information that is discussed between their child and this counselor.  However, this counselor asks that parents respect the privacy of their child in order for this counselor to build a trusting relationship with their child.  This counselor will communicate with parents any concerns when meeting with minor clients.
